SEA SUNDAY GLOBAL SERVICE
July 13, 2020
Sea Sunday has been a long-term fixture on The Mission to Seafarers’ calendar, but the event this year carries even greater poignancy. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, seafarers have selflessly continued to keep the global economy turning – ensuring that essential cargoes of food, medicine, fuel and other supplies reach us.
During yesterday’s online Global Service, the Rev. Canon Andrew Wright reflected that the ancient tale of Noah, the ‘unexpected seafarer’, which tells of a sudden destructive global calamity, does indeed reflect as a story for our time.
The irony of the current pandemic is that the Mission was able to deliver this year a truly global event, with much of the content in local language or dialect, precisely reflecting its care for the world’s seafarers.
The most enjoyable service included a detailed message of support from the charity’s President, HRH The Princess Royal.
The full service can be found at www.missiontoseafarers.org/sea-sunday.
Please donate and let the seafarers know how much their tireless efforts are appreciated at this most difficult of times!
