Business Support For Seafarers

Corporate support is instrumental in our goal of helping all seafarers and their families. At MtSS we pride ourselves in developing excellent, meaningful, and mutually beneficial relationships with our corporate partners. MtSS treats every corporate relationship as vital thus we work to ensure our partner’s needs and expectations are not only met but exceeded.

Our corporate supporters could attest to the true value of building relationships with us and/or supporting our work. The brand becomes more visible and enhanced when you work with MtSS. We have media and PR opportunities that we open up to those we work with. MtSS to date has an array of broad-reaching networks and a high-profile partner base.

Through the partnership, MtSS opens its door to partner’s employees to participate in our events by taking part in challenges, creating fundraisers, becoming advocates or volunteers.

Every corporate relationship is important to MtSS. We welcome discussion on how we can best achieve and enrich the relationship with our supporters

How the Mission's Work Began

Founded in 1856, the Mission had its first beginnings some 20 years earlier when the Revd John Ashley began visiting ships at anchor in the Bristol Channel.

In 15 years, he visited 14,000 ships and sold more than 5,000 Bibles and prayer books to seafarers.

ABOUT US

Establishment of The Mission to Seafarers Singapore

The Singapore Branch of The Mission to Seafarers began in 1926 when the gift of the widow of a pilot, who had spent several years in the port, guaranteed a sum of money towards a chaplain for the first year of operation. The Rev. G. G. Elliot was duly appointed and with the support of Cathedral staff and local residents, work began in earnest from an office in Connell House at 1 Anson Road, which also offered the use of the Seamen's Chapel situated within the grounds. This magnificent building was funded by a bequest from a seafarer, Mr Matthew Connell. To this was added the proceeds from the sale of “The Sailors Home” in Stamford Road.
