Vice-President of the Mission to Seafarers, Mr. Esben Poulsson, together with the Assistant General Secretary of the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union, Mr. Larry Gwee and local MTSS staff, recently visited the Crew Facilitation Centre (CFC) at Tanjong Pagar Terminal.

This self-contained facility is dedicated to sign-on crew who can be housed for up to 48 hours prior to their ship-boarding, keeping both the ships and local community safe.

SMOU-prepared gifts, care packs and goodies were shared amongst the crew of the ‘floatel’ to show appreciation for their hard-work and dedication to safe crew-changes in these testing times, whilst Esben presented the Barge Master with a memento of the visit.

We need to remember that most of those seafarers joining ships now will be facing the distinct possibility of working way past their contracted periods as the global pandemic continues and even worsens.
